About the Author
Nilda Chong, MD, MPH, DrPH, has more than twenty years of experience in practice, in training providers in the delivery of care for culturally diverse populations, and in leading public health education campaigns in Latin America. She holds a doctoral degree in public health with a multicultural health specialty from the University of California at Berkeley. Dr. Chong has served as a consultant for the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization, directed national health programs for the Ministry of Health in Panama, and held teaching positions at the School of Medicine, University of Panama, and at Florida State University. She is also the author of The Latino Patient.Francia Baez has managed human resources issues in twenty Latin American countries for a large global financial institution. She is the former president of the Human Resources Banking Committee and former member of the board of directors of Fondomicro, a microfinance organization in the Dominican Republic.
