About the Author Ken Jones was a Zen and Ch’an practitioner and teacher. He was a founder of the UK Network of Engaged Buddhists, eventually serving as its president, and a member of the International Advisory Committee of the Buddhist Peace Fellowship Jones facilitated numerous workshops and retreats on different aspects of Buddhism, but focusing particularly on “Everyday Buddhism”. He published widely, his best known book being The New Social Face of Buddhism. A widely published haiku poet, he has been awarded the Sasakawa prize for his contribution in that field. He final years were spent in his native Wales, with his Irish wife Noragh. He passed away in 2015.

Let's begin with what I like about the book:1.) It's a really quick easy read. Contains little or no fluff (OK, a little but very little). I read the entire book on a 1.5 hour flight.2.) The author isn't a cheerleader/life-coach type of instructor. He actually presents a practical method.The downside?1.) The entire book focuses on Forex trading. If you are into common stock / commodities / futures this is not the book for you.

This book was somewhat esoteric for me because I bagan with a much larger account and it has grown over the years. But I did appreciate one main point the author made: With $500 totsl in your trading account, your goal should not be to turn it into $5,000 or some totally ridiculous amount. Your early goal should be, simply, learning to trade with consistently profitable results. Over time, your trades can grow in value, but this approach avoids leaping off a cliff on day one or even month one. Great advice.

As a somewhat new day trader in Forex,. I look at price action, as does the Heiken Ashi Trader, and I have read many books on trading. This little book, and his others which form a series, contain much wisdom and practical advice and have been valuable to me. I recommend it..

This is one of the books you want to read if you are considering the field of trading. The author shares his own personal mistakes and encourages the reader in the first part of the book to show discipline and patience in learning how to trade right by starting out small. This is an honest approach to trading and it would benefit anyone who reads it.

Nicely organized and well-presented plan how to become a professional trader. Not much descriptive of tax implications, but a good book, a quick read, and good advice. The author advises doing it with Forex trading. Not bad for a short book.

At the time of this writing, I am working through chapter five on single row functions. Thus far I have found the book to be informative and helpful. There are aspects of Oracle and SQL I am not familiar and while the author does explain some things like ampersand substitution in great detail, he fails to clarify others like the clauses PARTITION BY and OVER. The author's examples are helpful, but it would be better if he had used the HR schema or provided a copy of the Cruise Ship schema for users to load. Given I'm already using the HR schema for other exercises, I modified the examples in the book to fit the HR schema. So far, it works.

This book isnt comprehensive - you cant rely on it as a sole study resource for taking the exam (I wouldn't recommend supplementing with Matthew Morris' material to fill this gap, though). I was hoping an Oracle published book would be of higher quality, some concepts seemed to be written rushed or to shorten chapters.

The text book is pretty accurate however the testing software practice questions are obviously incorrect in a few places.it is good to study with for the most part but be aware of the practice test is not accurate and will probably mess you up if you don't use multiple sources to prepare for the 1z0-071 exam.

It’s a long read but it does a great job of explaining things. In addition to this book, i took 2,1z0-071 courses from Udemy but I feel this book did a better job of preping me for the test. Must read if you want your OCA.

The end of the first chapter review includes the question: "Is this the best database book for....? A) Yes B) Definitely... (you get the picture). Did not find it at all funny and I returned the book immediately. You can tell just reading the 'Look inside' preview the author likes hearing himself talk.The book is terribly overpriced, for one, considering what you can learn from it which is not much. Compare this table of contents alone to (a great book) Microsoft SQL Server 2016: A Beginner's Guide, Sixth Edition by Dusan Petkovic to see just what a terrible value it truly is.Moreover, the exam is absolutely despicable. It asks a bunch metadata type questions and does not gauge ability to program SQL at all. An inordinate amount of questions focused on what is subquery and what they can do with no SQL in the question at all.This book and the exam left me in disgust. I'll stick to SQL Server and Postgres.

In 2010 i flew to Cebu Philippines to pay final respects to my Grandfather and had the fortune of receiving a traditional* tattoo. Though having talked it out in great detail start to finish over time my memory has faded some of its meaning away. Having done so i went on a pursuit to find a book perhaps at least on Polynesian tattoo symbolism when i stumbled upon this book. Im completely blown away and impressed with this book and at a great price. Lane Wilcken has done years of scholarly and experiential research and is one of the few people I would trust on these issues. I eventually even received my first batek from him several years later.I would recommend this book to anyone interested in pre-colonial tattoo traditions within the PI and anyone seriously considering being part of the cultural reclamation of these practices.

It has full-color pictures and explains through story and detailthe tradition of tattooing in the Philippines and Polynesian cultures.It is a must read for tattoo enthusiast !!!

If you're looking for a tattoo book where you can get tattoo stencils or copy tattoo designs, then this isn't the book for you. Although there are heaps of large pictures and drawings of Filipino (and neighbouring islands) tattoos, I see this book as a history book which focuses on the Philippines' pre-Hispanic period. Philippine history taught in our schools usually starts from the arrival of the Spaniards and onwards. I found it fascinating that the author was able to gather loads of pre-Hispanic material for this. When I was young, I never had the time nor the interest to go to a school library and do some research regarding Pre-Spanish Philippines. I was contented with my knowledge of Lapu-Lapu's fight as the start of Philippine history.This book is also great for tattoo artists and enthusiasts to be able to create ORIGINAL Filipino-inspired tattoo designs. About the Author Best-selling author Richard Carlson, Ph.D., creator of the popular Don't Sweat the Small Stuff series and the just published Don't Get Scrooged, died suddenly of cardiac arrest enroute to New York on December 13. Carlson, 45, published his first book in 1985 and went on to publish more than 20 books that remain popular in English and in translation in 130 languages and 35 countries. Richard Carlson grew up in Piedmont, CA. He received his undergraduate degree from Pepperdine University and his Ph.D. in psychology from Sierra University. He was in private practice as a psychotherapist when he started to publish books about psychological and spiritual health. As his books started to attract a large audience, he began writing full time so he could teach more people how to live with presence and ease by cultivating gratitude and generosity. Dr. Carlson was a large supporter of and participant in the National Center for Family Literacy and at the time of his death he was working on a project with them called for "A Penny a Book" from publishers, authors and literary agents to promote literacy. Dr. Carlson is survived by his wife and life partner of 25 years, Kris Carlson, his co-author on Don't Sweat the Small Stuff in Love and the author of Don't Sweat the Small Stuff for Women, his loving daughters Jasmine and Kenna, sisters, Kathleen Carlson Mowris of Olympic Village, CA and Anna L. Carlson of La Selva Beach, CA, and his parents, Barbara and Don Carlson of Orinda, CA. A private memorial service will be held next week.
